Someone had said to her a long time ago that to them, every day was like a Sunday Evening and at the time, aged only seven; Mia had never really understood what had been meant and had merely by passed the comment and not once thought of it again. But then, days like these that seemed to repeat every damn emotion inside her that made everything seem to be a time killer, her days seemed to burn away and melt like the acid from her own heart was melting her life before her own eyes. 'Everyday is like Sunday Evening'; oh how very true the statement was right now. If she hadn't got the meaning when it was first said, she sure did now. Sunday Evenings most people spent willing the day to rewind, dreading that when they woke up it would be Monday again and it would be back to the beginning of the week, back to work, back to life that they had managed to push out for those short two days. For Mia, this loop in her life didn't go from Monday-Monday, it went from day to day; she woke up every day with the same dread in her stomach, the same lack of emotion of anything other than loss. She stayed up at night, hauled up in her bed staring at the far wall, her own mind racing with stupid thoughts that really shouldn't have bothered her so young. But she couldn't stop and she'd lose yet another night's sleep. 'Here we go again, another day gone, another wasted day.' Where was this life getting her? She'd wake up tomorrow and repeat everything. Go to class, eat, talk to Madeline, and keep herself to herself. Talking wasn't her best quality; she didn't even have a best quality. Not many people here liked her but she liked it best that way, the less people you cared for the less it hurt to have them gone. Like Chary, who had disappeared all those years ago; her very first friend in Hogwarts. Then she thought to Thanatos, the young Half Blood she had met back in London when her and her dad had first left Ireland. All those people whom she had met were now gone as though they were nothing but a puff of smoke. She sighed to herself, leaned over the beside and grabbed the candle that burned brightly on top of her wooden little nightstand. She had been about to blow it out when a sudden chill crept up her spine and she instantly turned to the opposite wall where the ceiling to floor mirror hung. She could see herself plainly and examined her features. She hadn't washed her make up off yet, her eyes were still heavily covered in eye-liner, mascara, her pale face was made even paler by a foundation that seemed to give her a ghostly glow and the Smokey eye effect contrasted so well with the deep blusher and her naturally red lips. She smirked to herself, the look made her appear so much older and she brushed her fringe from her face. She probably should get it cut, but she liked how the length made it harder to see her eyes... Eyes were a weakness and people could see into your souls just by looking. She was dressed in the silky green material of her night clothes, but she had yet to put away her uniform. How easy would it be to get up, dress herself before Maddie woke and noticed she was gone? Decided, Mia stood up, barely took a second glance in the mirror and made her way toward the trunk at the end of her bed. Her covers only rumbled from where she had been sat, but otherwise untouched. She dressed quickly, threw her cloak hood up over her hair and took a glance at the small watch she had left on the bedside table. It was only eleven, or nearly... The doors would still be unlocked, the Prefects would likely still be on rounds, and she knew from experience they never locked the doors until past one. Times didn't change too much from here. She slipped from her dorm. Out of the Common Room without being noticed and was out in the Grounds before she had even to think about where she was going. The forest loomed ever closer. It would seem idiotic to others, to go into a dark Forest so late at night. But Mia had done it so many times now it never bothered her. The Forest had become her haven. Not many people braved it and it was always so peaceful. She wouldn't venture far, not tonight. She had enough of Vampires, Spiders and everything else that she had seen in here. Erin, the spiteful cow was probably still lurking in here somewhere. She made Mia look like a kitten, how the three of them had ever escaped was unbelievable... Or perhaps not. She only wanted Maddie; she had gotten Maddie, if only for a few moments. Finally, she had passed enough trees to be sat in her usual clearing. Not far enough in to be near Erin's cave, nowhere near the Acromantula Webs... She was safe for now. Sitting on a large, over turned tree, hood still up, Mia looked up at the sky, which was nearly completely hidden by the trees. But still, an inky sky could be spotted and only two or three stars glittered down. How could the world look so beautiful and still be so cruel? She sighed and took in a deep breath; letting the clean, fresh air inflate her. |

The nighttime was mocking Alice Fray once again. She smirked at herself, musing at the idea how she could love and hate something at the very same time. This was a particularly irritating and frustrating mixture of emotions that never failed to spark Alice's quick temper. She was already in a bad enough mood as it was and now, as a thick veil of night draped over the sky with simple elegance, she felt her pureblood boiling under her pale skin once again. On the one hand, Alice loved night time; the stars, the moon (especially when it was full) and of course the almost heavy, dangerous atmosphere that brought with it the temptation to be outside. Or at least, that was how it felt for her. At night Alice had always enjoyed infuriating her family (her mother in particular) by escaping through her bedroom window to go out causing trouble with her friends. This had always had a certain thrill for her, an added bonus being that when she and her friends ended up getting arrested (a regular occurrence whether it be day or night) by the muggle version of the law enforces, and they had to disturb her family while they slept. But, on the other hand, Alice had always had trouble sleeping in general; she never felt refreshed even when she finally got to sleep. Most of the time she just ended up getting angrier at herself for her inability to fall into a sleep that was free of dreams and lasted longer than a couple of hours before she woke herself back up again. Her mother had always smirked, calling her a ‘vampire’ that, by a pureblood family's standards, was a cruel insult (to add to the rest her mother screamed at her) as it was implying she was a half blood. Alice ground her teeth slightly as she clenched her jaw, scowling at her faint, ghostly reflection in her dorm room window. Even in the dim candle light her many silver ear piercings glinted in the light and her amber eyes seemed to glow evilly under her side fringe. She was still in her Slytherin school robes, though she had swapped her skirt for her favourite pair of jeans under the cloak and she had slipped on her heavily worn out pair of converse all stars (the insults she had written in marker pen were slightly faded but were enough to get disapproving glances from the nosy teachers who taught her). But even though she had personalized her school uniform (and ignored the teachers when they told her to remove her silver bracelets and chain on her jeans), she couldn't help but scathingly remind herself that with her dyed fire red hair and Slytherin school uniform she looked ever so slightly like a Christmas tree gone wrong. Biting back the swear words she would have very much liked to shout at the top of her voice, she got to her feet from her cross legged sitting position on the end of her bed and stormed out the dormitory. She couldn't care less whether she woke anyone, and even if any of them dared complain about her noisy exit of the dorms they would get themselves on the receiving end of a painful hex. She smiled slyly to herself as she strode out of her common room and towards the general direction of the main entrance (she also couldn’t help but wonder how she would deal with any prefects who got in her way, it was after hours now she came to think of it... although she was a first year she had joined very late for her age and already knew her fair share of spells thanks to her older siblings). Alice was enjoying remembering the prank she had pulled on one of her fellow Slytherins who she shared a dorm with. The Slytherin girl had bumped into her and made the very big mistake of not apologizing and begging for mercy. So, Alice had felt a punishment was in order and had left itching powder in her fellow students bed moments before she had gotten into it. A few minutes later the Slytherin girl had ran out the room, moaning none stop to the head of Slytherin until she was given a different bed to sleep in. Alice smirked happily to herself; she hadn't even been caught out for her prank. Alice finally reached the grounds outside the castle and, instead of heading towards to the deadly still, black waters of the lake (although they did look quite tempting), she decided to head towards the Forbidden Forest. Of course, some part of her knew she was going to new lengths of insane to relieve her bad moods, but her darker, rule-breaking side gave into the temptation of the name. 'Forbidden'; it was just too good to miss out on. Alice had only been walking for what felt like ten or fifteen minutes when, to her great surprise (she hurried to rearrange her features so as not to show her brief moment of weakness) she came into a clearing where a hooded figure stood quite still beside on over turned tree. " Oh, who are you?" Alice demanded bluntly, tilting her head to the side and narrowing her amber eyes with a mixture of intrigue and defensiveness. It only took her a second to realise that this anonymous figure could be anyone. For all she knew, the rumours of Vampires and other dark creatures that supposedly lurked in the forest were true, and she had now clumsily invoked her own death wish by starting a conversation with it. Maddie had lay there in her bed quietly, just staring at the ceiling. She had decided earlier that day she wasn't going to ventureing tonight. No, she'd just sit and relax in her bed. After all, sleeping wasn't quite necessary for her being half-vampire and all. It was one of the perks of being undead. She sighed happily, rolling over and snuggling into her pillow. There was probably nothing that could get her to leave this bed right now. Not in a million years! Hearing some shifting around, Maddie opened an eye slightly to find Mia hastily pulling a hood over her head and leaving quietly. "Nope." She mumbled, rolling over once again. She wasn't about to go chasing after Mia, as she usually would. Because, of course, tonight Madeline was relaxing. Not going into the forbidden forest, not running into more vampires, or spiders, or whatever else that was currently roaming around outside the castle. But as soon as this was decided, it was taken back. Another Slytherin, and a first year at that had slipped out of the dorms thinking they were unnoticed within the span of what, ten minutes? Growling to herself, Madeline sat up, smoothing down her long, white-blonde hair before standing up and stretching. This was all just too shady to her. Then again, she was probably over-reactng. Either way, Maddie pulled on her own cloak and slipped out of the castle aswell, careful not to be noticed by any of the prefects, or the girls that had already made their escape. Maddie followed behind the first year being pretty much silent as she did so. If the girl realized she was being followed, that would be no big deal. She would not and probably couldn't feel threatened by some first year. Sighing lightly,Maddie soon grew bored of walking, figureing she would go unnoticed by the girl at this point. Sure, being outside the castle at night was lovely and all, but if you've been out there every night on a regular basis as Maddie had, it tended to not be as exciting. And suddenly, the girl stopped, making Maddie pause a good twenty feet behind to realize what was going on. There was Mia, Madeline assumed, sitting next to the large tree. Smirking, Maddie pulled her hood off and kept walking towards her best friend. As she did this she made sure to bump into the other Slytherin girl. Nothing like starting off on the wrong foot. "Ooo," Madeline cooed, a wide smile on her face as she smoothed her hair down once again. "Are we having a party?" She asked, the question dripping with sarcasm. |

No sooner had the question left Alice lips when, when, adding to the list of unexpected circumstances that night, someone knocked into her with too much strength to have been by accident, though it failed to knock Alice over as her stance was balanced firmly on the overgrown ground of the forest floor. The girl was a fellow Slytherin student from the look of her cloak, and Alice presumed she was in a higher year than herself. Alice rolled her eyes at the sarcastic comment. After living with her stuck up pureblood family for as long as she had, a comment like that was the equivalent to a warm greeting in her house. In fact, even she and her friends back home talked to each other like this with friendly ease, it was nothing new. In fact, it was the first ’normal’ conversation Alice had been greeted with so far. " Yeah, I'm having a great time." Alice replied with a smirk, her flat tone of boredom and sarcasm equally matching the other girl’s tone of voice. "So, who are you two? Or would you prefer to continue the sarcastic small talk without being properly introduced?" Alice drawled. She brushed her side fringe from her amber eyes so she could get a better look at the two strangers she found herself talking to (well, she found herself talking to one stranger, the other had yet to speak at all). Madeline took a few more steps and stopped upon hearing the sound of Alice's voice. Turning around slowly, she looked at Alice for a moment, a look of almost disgust on her face. She had dared to talk back? What a surprise. And making a snide comment at that. Madeline glanced back at Mia for a second, flashing her a look, before turning back to Alice. "Madeline Akuma." She stated, her tone sounding almost offended that she hadn't yet heard of her, due to all the rumors that had tended to be thrown around. She was Half-Vampire, a Future Death Eater, and your worst nightmare all rolled up into one good looking. and very petite girl. Neither she or Mia was one to be crossed, that's for sure. If you said the wrong thing, or anything at all for that matter, chances are one of them was going to go off on you. Maddie turned around once again, going to Mia and taking a seat next to her. She hadn't cared too much to hear the other girls name, or anything about her for that matter. Sighing lightly, Maddie rested her head against the overturned, massive tree. "Any particular reasoning for being out tonight?" She asked, waiting for a reply from anyone, really. |

Alice was glad to see her comment land as the girl flashed her look of disgust and introduced herself. Alice raised her eyebrow fractionally, allowing a smirk to pass across her face. She recognized the name quite quickly, due to the fact that earlier that day she had heard a Slytherin girl (the same girl who had been punished with itching powder in her bed by Alice as a form a revenge) mentioning a certain 'Maddie Akuma' and how she was apparently a half vampire, or something along those lines. Alice, against her better judgment (and her darker pureblood side that made her such an unpleasant person), was instantly intrigued. Though she kept her features impassive; it was obvious that Maddie and the other girl (Alice was sure her name was Mia) knew each other from the quick glance of recognition they had shared. " I'm Alice," She replied, refusing to voice her second name that she despised so much. " Since you ask." She added her tone bitingly sarcastic again, noting Maddie's obvious lack of interest in asking for her own name in return. Alice glanced momentarily at a nearby tree that had an extremely low hanging thick branch and so she jumped up with ease (having quite a slim build and the branch being quite sturdy, the branch didn't even tremble) and sat down lazily, turning her attention to her fellow Slytherins. " My inability to sleep and my love of the night time." Alice stated simply in reply, letting her side fringe shadow her black eyelined amber eyes as she rested her head against the side of the tree calmly. Edited by Alice Fray, Jun 29 2008, 04:19 AM.

A dark cloud floated over head but it was not long before it had left sight and once again the sky and stars were visible. Although she could not clearly see the moon, its glow flooded the clearing. A few small spiders scuttled past her and as she looked down and watched them pass, her mood to low to even mumble or step aside, but her blue eyes watched with interest, head tilted to one side as she watched. They too were gone and she stood slowly, leaving behind her seat. She didn't walk far, in fact she only stepped backward a little, trying to find a new spot in which to turn her attention to. Her hand clutching her hood so that it stayed put. It most likely would have looked eerie to a passer by, to see a hooded figure stood still at the edge of a clearing, which in the centre had a scorched patch where clearly a fire had once burned. Licking her lips Mia let out another sigh, and moved again but this time to sit back down on her tree. It was a further few minuets before anything happened. A few bats scattered over the clearing, brushing past her and causing a shiver to roll down her body. But, whilst following the direction the bats had come from she realised instantly what had trigged the movement. Two figures were moving toward her, one hooded and one a bright red haired girl. She watched them both, they had a large gap between each other, right until the first girl stopped and the second crossed past her and moved to Mia. She was, at first slightly alarmed. Why had they followed her in here? Who had even seen her? She frowned, and only when the hooded figure speak did she recognise who it was, and of course she was now close enough for Mia to get a proper look at the girl. She laughed to herself for her moment of stupidity and practically drawled the name, “Maddie…” The grin on her face probably not visible in this darkness. She had so far ignored the other students question and slowly turned her attention to her, eyes focusing on the red head. “Mia.” She told her, she had let Maddie answer first and though neither of them had asked her name, she was amused that she had told them anyway. ‘Alice’, oh how that name brought back memories, that strange, eccentric Hufflepuff girl. She watched the other with suspicious eyes, letting Maddie do the talking. She felt more like sitting for the time being. Was the question directed at both of them anyway? She turned to Maddie then, who was now sat beside her. “You asking me or her?” |

Maddie almost cringed at the sound of Alice's voice, beginning to get visibly annoyed by this newcomer. "I didn't ask, actually." She stated while rolling her eyes. Was this girl insane? Maddie fairly positive that she or Mia hadn't bothered asking what her name was. That's just what they needed, a crazy Slytherin. "It was more or less directed at you, Mia." Maddie replied, turning her head a little to see what Alice was doing. Now she was up in a tree! Maddie gave a soft sigh, shaking her head lightly as she placed a hand over her eyes. She was crazy, she had to be. Yet, there was something about this girl that made Maddie want to give her a little respect. She was either fairly brave or extremely foolish for coming out here tonight, and even sitting with Madeline and Mia uninvited, and obviously unwanted. |

Alice couldn't help but be reminded of her family when around Maddie and Mia (though Alice was reserving her quick judgment on her for now, she hadn't even spoken up until a few moments ago). She obviously thought Alice was crazy, though surprisingly she hadn't outright said so yet or said how irritating she found her (okay, so she wasn't an entire reminder of her family in that case, close enough to make Alice flinch inwardly with bad memories from home). Though, in her own defense, living with her pureblood family would drive anyone insane. " Yes, I was aware you hadn't asked." Alice said with an exasperated sigh, she had expected a half vampire to be more perceptive after all, though she restrained herself from saying as much. It would probably result badly for Alice (and she was quite aware of the fact she was outnumbered), either way Maddie would probably laugh at the fact it was untrue or maybe would take an even deeper dislike to her if it were true. Not that Alice really cared, it would add to the length list of enemy's she was acquiring already. "I'm a little put out by the fact you missed the sarcasm, Maddie." Alice let a sincere smile grace her face momentarily, which hadn’t yet happened around anyone else at Hogwarts until now. She also found that even if her presence was unwanted, which it obviously was, she was actually enjoying herself and the tree was more comfortable to sit in than she had previously expected. Alice fell silent after that, waiting to see Mia's response to Maddie's question. Edited by Alice Fray, Jun 29 2008, 04:22 AM.

She had no reason as to why she suddenly had no inspiration to start on the girl. She made no witty comments, made no foul judgements on the girl and all together ignored the interaction between Madeline and Alice. She should probably have intervened. Demanded that the pair be quiet for the time being, but even when she again looked toward Alice, she felt no desire to tell the girl to just shut up and leave. She was enjoying herself, if only a little. The girl was sticking up for herself, she hadn't ran away, she hadn't pulled out her wand but merely shot back at Maddie with own wit. Mia looked to the floor, smirking. Maddie would likely not react well to that. She might even turn on Mia; who still did not stick up for the Vampire. Maddie could fight her own battles and evidently so could Alice. She had remained silent long enough and finally answered Maddie when the pair had stopped talking. "I couldn't sleep." She told her truthfully, still not looking toward either of the girls. Her bored tone was evident, but for some reason she had no feelings of anger, resentment or anything negative in her at that particular moment. Although she was ever so slightly annoyed her moment of peace had been so quickly ruined, she found that having company arguing about her gave her more time to think. She had become so accustomed to the chatter and the noise around Hogwarts that solitude, although hard to come by and much desired when you didn't have it, became too lonely. Alice, in a strange sort of way, reminded Mia a lot of herself; Quick with some comeback that put someone else down. She had snapped back instead of fighting and had for the moment, impressed the older Slytherin ever so slightly. Not that she would say it aloud; she'd let the two argue a moment or two more before cutting in. In the moment of silence that followed, the sound of howling could be heard, but so far off into the distance that it did not make Mia jump or stand or even shiver. She merely acknowledged the sound as part of the forest. Somewhere in the distance a Werewolf was hunting and yet here sat three unarmed young teenagers. She shook her head mentally, pulled in her lower lip under her teeth and bit down on the red flesh, before shaking her head properly so that her hood fell down and pooled around her shoulders. “Why are you up?” She asked of Maddie, the only one in the group to not have spoken about their presence. “Not hunting I hope? The idea of you scavenging makes me feel quite sick. Besides, how much blood could you possible need?” She quirked a brow at her friend, the small smile playing on her lips let Alice know there was a secret between the two. And it was one that Mia had always enjoyed; it had freaked many people out back in the earlier days of Maddie’s accidental transformation. Mia had always loved a good shock factor. She had ignored Alice long enough and slowly turned to face her. “Haven’t you some first years to be playing Chess with or Exploding Snap with in your dorm?” She asked of her, those two things the only thing she could think of which sounded childish and degrading enough at the current moment. She hoped the girl would once again come up with something to amuse Mia, she was warming to the girl and she had not so much as spoken more than her name. |

Alice turned her attention to Mia, who had finally spoken, allowing a break in her and Maddie's exchange of quick, snide remarks (you couldn't call it an argument, in fact, it was barely even a conversation, but it was enjoyable in Alice's opinion). Alice raised an eyebrow, her curious side getting the better of her; although not being able to sleep was a common thing and was nothing entirely special, Alice wondered whether there was a particular reason. Though, of course, the moment of silence didn't seem enough to question this statement, and so Alice made a mental note to ask about it later (if she was still here and is her presence didn't seem entirely unwanted, that is). Then Mia spoke again, and this time said something that seemed to confirm Alice's previous suspicions about Maddie being a vampire or 'half' vampire, as the ignorant Slytherin girl from her dorm had mentioned earlier that day. Alice took a closer look at Maddie hiding her vague interest in the vampire and feeling a slight chill run up her spine as Mia asked how much blood could Maddie possibly need. 'Knowing my luck I'll probably be for dinner' Alice had smirked thoughtfully to herself, imagining the look of outrage on her family's, and specially her mothers, face if they heard she had been eaten by a vampire. It would be Alice's final revenge on the family she despised so much, being killed by what they called a 'dirty halfblood'. That dimmed the subtle hint of worry that seemed to have surfaced in the pit of her stomach moments before, which Alice had ignored completely anyway (just like when she felt guilty or felt compassion for anyone). Most emotions were weak and weakness was something Alice could do without (but in some ways she knew this was partly her boiling pureblood fueling the idea of weakness as being despicable). Mia spoke again, directing her patronising comment at Alice and, for what felt like the first time since she had arrived, Mia actually looked at Alice. " I highly doubt that any of them want to play childish games, or not with me at least," Alice smirked, pausing for a second as she thought back to the bad first impression she had so happily started of with in her own dorm room. "Considering one of them ignorant little Slytherin girls recently hurried off to the head of Slytherin complaining someone, that someone being me by the way, had left itching powder in her bed." Alice laughed harshly, remembering the look of uncomfortable shock on the girls face as she jumped out of her bed itching like mad. " Though, don't feel sorry for her." She added, doubting either of them would anyway. " She irritated me and then made the grave mistake of not begging for mercy afterwards." She stated in a flat, uncaring tone of voice. She wasn't here at Hogwarts asking to be liked, (though admittedly she was missing the familiar group of friends she had for company back home) though she did demand the respect she deserved. She wasn't a push over, despite the label of being a puny first year, she wasn't about to let herself get put down without a fight. " Oh, and, correct me if I'm wrong," Alice drawled, letting her slightly intrigued and mostly crazy side get the better of her as she continued. "But am I in the presence of a Vampire? Or 'half' vampire, if that be the correct term?" Alice asked, looking from Mia to Maddie, wondering how they would react to her question. It probably wasn't a surprise to either of them that Alice had heard Maddie was a vampire, yet she was sure it would lead to an interesting topic of conversation and so risked whatever reaction she would be faced with. Maddie glared into the darkness, completely ignoreing Alice's comment. Madeline, missing sarcasm? Yeah, right. She wasn't stupid. She wasn't about to let someone talk to her like she was either. But then again, she hadn't really felt the need to say anything back to her. It wasn't worth it, not at the moment anyway. "Nah, I wasn't planning on hunting tonight, but maybe after this little shin-dig gets over, I' think I'm going to reconsider." She said, pausing to stretch a little as she laughed, "I actually enjoy the hunt more than the meal." She said truthfully, a wide smile across her face although she was fairly sure no one could see it in the darkness. "Nothing tastes quite as good as human blood, though." She commented, her voice a little quieter when she said this. "I'm out tonight because I was being nosy." Maddie added quickly, changing the subject before any questions could be asked about that. "I mean, hear I am, minding my own business. And then you sneak out!" She said, obviously being a little too overdramatic at this point. "And THEN, I roll over, ignoring it for once. Then she sneaks out. It seemed too fishy." She said with a slight nod, a hand idily going to her hair and playing with it. Maddie had always been nosy, and scorned many times by her father for this as a child. She'd walked in on one too many things, listened at the door one too many times, and peeked at what was going on from the top of the stairs more times than she could count. Even after severly being punished for this, nothing could quite stop her curiousity from getting the best of her. A small smile crossed her face as Alice asked the question that Madeline got most. Looking up at Alice, she watched her for a second. "I'm only half a monster." Was all she said, and seemed to be all that she was going to say. The details weren't really that important, and if Alice really wanted to know, she'd probably ask more questions about it. |

Alice leant her head back on the bark of the tree, breathing in the forest air deeply. She had been planning on ignoring part of the conversation for a moment so she could fully appreciate the beauty of the night sky. Though Alice's habit of picking up interesting points in what she considered a blur of useless white noise forced Alice to listen as she heard Maddie's last words on the topic of 'hunting' that sent another chill running like electric up her spine. Of course, for a vampire to consider human blood a delicacy, so to speak, was entirely natural. Though at these words Alice couldn't help but be very aware of her own pulse drumming rhythmically through her veins. It was a feeling Alice found familiar, too familiar. This feeling reminded her of her old friends words to her last summer. The similarity in the words and the truthfulness in their tones of voice were uncanny. But before Alice could even allow her memory to flashback to that very summer, something else said caught Alice attention, but for all the wrong reasons. Her temper flared dangerously, not because her suspicions were indeed confirmed, but because of how they had been confirmed. The matter of fact tone it had been stated in ripped at her quick temper more than it should have done. Maybe she shouldn't have cared at all. She was a pureblood, born and bred to despise half bloods or anything that wasn't of good 'wizarding stock', whether that be vampires, werewolves, or otherwise. But Alice wasn't like that, despite the odd times when her mind (mostly due to her stupid parents) seemed to fight against how she truly felt on this matter. She had friends who were half blood (meaning muggle borns, and other...variations, like vampires) or muggles back home. At first this had been because she wanted to irritate her parents, but she had grown to like them actually as real friends and in some ways they were like a family she never felt she had. "What? So you consider vampires to be monsters?" Alice demanded, not reaching Maddie's eyes until she replied. Alice was surprised at the forcefulness of her own voice, she was so used to sounding bored or cold hearted anything close to another emotion in her voice was strange. She was also suddenly aware of the fact she was picking a fight about the moral rights of calling a vampire a monster with...a vampire. Now there was something she hadn't ever expected herself doing (mostly because she cared so little about anything, her effort in arguing her views was none existent when she wasn’t around her family or teachers) and she was just waiting for a smirk to appear on both Mia and Maddie's faces; they would probably find this terribly amusing, a stupid little first year picking a fight. |

Maddie stared off into the distance, rolling her eyes a little at the next foolish question that was asked. "Yes." She said very bluntly,a little surprised and even more annoyed that Alice had chose to try and pick a fight with her. She couldn't help but to smirk a little as she answered, though. She had managed to get Alice upset without even trying. "I do consider all Vampires to be monsters." She added, looking over with an eyebrow cocked. Was Alice seriously doing this? Why would you argue with a Vampire about weather or not Vampires are monsters? She could care less if she offended the first year now, after asking something so foolish. How could anyone not consider a vampire a monster? A vile, blood-sucking creature of the night. It's what Madeline was, and she had grown to accept that. "I'm sure you seriously don't want to start an argument with me." Maddie insisted, giving her an almost warning look, "And especially about something like that." She continued, turning a little so she wasn't facing her. Maddie had only a few buttons to push that had really ever gotten her worked up, and something that personal was certainly one of them. |

Alice wasn't surprised to see the smirk dawn on Maddie's face. And thankfully, Alice's temper hadn't flared up in reply. She had to agree it wouldn't be a good idea to pursue that particular line of argument. Of course, the only reason she had brought it up in the first place was because of her inability to control her quick temper, that was, as her older siblings liked to say, more trouble than it was worth. But then she suddenly noticed a change in the atmosphere; Maddie had moved slightly to look away and hadn't even threatened a tone of sarcasm or harsh words in her warning. Unless Alice was reading too much into it, she had a smug feeling she had unconsciously hit a nerve against Maddie too. That made them equal, which seemed to settle the matter for the time being in Alice's opinion. " Okay, I'll drop the moral grounds argument of how to properly address a vampire." Alice replied almost reluctantly, with a smirk as she resisted the temptation to continue this slightly touchy subject. " So... How did it happen" Alice asked conversationally, her tone this time sounding surprisingly less bored and not at all sarcastic or harsh. Her questions were taking a different route that didn't risk Alice's far from controlled anger issues. She rested her head back against the tree again, her breathing was level and her pulse seemed to have slowed since its slight pick up in pace a moment ago. This was a relief; one of these days she was sure she would give herself a heart attack or more probably would do something she might regret when she had been carted off to Azkaban for brutal murder. |

"Itching powder?" Mia retorted, eye brows lifting and her respect for girl being knocked down a few pegs. Well, she had brought up the word Childish and it so suited that moment. Hexing, cursing... Wand use was the way for revenge or to torture but simplistic pranks were far below anything Mia had ever considered using. However, she shrugged, sighed and spoke, half wishing she hadn't after she had. "So long as it was Lexi Bell than I guess I have no complaints." The minuet the words had been uttered she paused and looked at Maddie, she didn't apologise, though she knew she probably should have. She fell silent after that, nothing good could come from her so it was probably best just to remain silent on all subjects. Mia had listened to them start again on another round of who could make the other shut up first. Her eyes closed, a look of impatience and annoyance on her face, it was getting old so very quickly, the griping and stupid conversation. Being that Madeline was the Vampire then she every right to refer to herself as a monster if she so wished, besides, Mia was pressed to agree. She had only met one other Vampire in her time; the thing had been insufferable and as vile as any creature to be found in this forest. She was one who thoroughly deserved the title 'monster'. Mia remained silent though, now eyes open and staring ahead of her, watching a bush shake and several berries disappear into nowhere. It was likely a Threstral, having never seen death, only heard it. The creatures were still as invisible to Mia as they were the day they studied them with Professor Talos all that time ago. She was still intrigued by them, what they looked like, because some drawing in a book was not enough to quench her desire to see for herself. The two around her clearly did not noticed, too busy in a conversation Mia had long since clicked out of, standing up and moving away from Maddie, she finally turned, now lent against a tree, teeth clenched while she waited for a pause in the conversation. She looked toward Maddie, wondering how she would suggest the transformation happened. Mia had explained it away to most people and she had never heard Maddie tell others, though she knew she had; else how would Brodi have known? "You want to tell her or should I, then we can steer this conversation away from this topic?" |
