Franklynn had enjoyed her time so far at school. It was deffinately different then life at the manor. Specifically, more interaction. What with classes, and meals spent with her house, she was fastly making new friends. Which was a nice experience. But Frankie still needed to find time for homework and relaxation. So, today, she thought she'd enjoy some time in the courtyard. Maybe bring her black kitten, Alchemy out for some fresh air. Possibly write home or in her journal. Maybe finally get around to reading the book she had checked out of the library the other day. All in all, it was a good plan. After dinner, she headed back to the common room with various other Slytherins. Only slipping in long enough to grab her book and scoop up Alchemy. She had already finished her homework and so she headed out to the courtyard. While the rest of her house sat in the common room doing their homework. "Ready for a bit of fresh air, Alchemy?" She asked the black kitten that wiggled in her arms as she made her way into the courtyard. It was such a warm day, and the air was pleasant. She let the charcoal kitten jump down, and run about the grass. As she herself found a seat next to the fountain and opened her book. "Stay close, Al." She said softly, looking at the kitten as she played with a tall blade of grass. Before turning her eyes to the text in the book. |

She had gone to Diagon Alley not too long ago, tired of the owl that continued to peck at her and cause her hair to have little splits in the curls. Finally, she would do something about it. The bird didn't like her, she tried to enjoy it, but she couldn't. If it wasn't attached to her, then it would be easier for her to get rid of it. So, she had. In return, she had gotten herself a new "pet." As Jade got up that morning, she felt the soft fur of her "kitten" rubbing up against her face. Opening her eyes, she looked at Anastasia and smiled. Ana was her snow leapord cub. At this moment, it would remain very small. The man who sold Ana to her said that he had gotten her enchanted, somehow, and that she wouldn't get too big, she would also grow slowly and healthily. So, hopefully, once the administrators of Hogwarts realized that she had brought in such a large cat, they wouldn't mind. They didn't say specifically what kind of cat, though, that she was allowed to have. So, she would use that as her excuse. The only thing that would have been a problem, besides this, was that the snow leapord would be outside its normal habitat. That was also another enchantment the man had put on her: Giving her the ability to live in warmer weather. Basically, Anastasia was now just a white, spotted leapord. There weren't any classes for her to attend. She had finished all of them and was waiting for the next school semester to begin. There wasn't a home to go to when school was out, so she just stuck around for the most part. It seemed like a good day to just take another tour around the school, especially outdoors. The inner walls were a little too confusing, so the wonders that lay on the outside of them may give her a little more entertainment. Once she reached the courtyard, Anastasia in her arms, long fuzzy tail swishing with the wind of her movements, she saw a new girl sitting next to the fountain with a textbook in her hands. Feeling some movement in her forearms, she looked down and could see Ana wriggling to get free, eyes on something interesting. When Jade looked in the direction of Anastasia's eyes, those soft yellow eyes, she could see a little black kitten playing in the grass. Loosening her grip, she let Ana jump free and go to play with the kitten. Looking back to the girl, she thought of going ahead and greeting her, but thought better of it. The other girl seemed to be busy, doing homework or just studying up for classes. Jade didn't want to make her lose concentration. So, instead, she remained in the grass, sitting down and watching what Anastasia would do next. She would just have to wait for the girl to finish her work. She didn't mind. The cub had been waiting in some of the taller grass, crouched down and watching the black kitten. It looked like Ana wanted to play, but was unsure of the new presence of the other kitten. Her tail swished back and forth steadily. She must have thought she was well hidden. |
 "You're thinking you could brain me with that thing, aren't you, sis? Let me tell you something... That's not a happy thought. And you know what happens to people who lose their happy thoughts, don't you? They fall out of the sky. It's true. I saw it in a cartoon once. So, you hold that telephone receiver in your lap and concentrate on getting your happy thoughts back. If that bad thought comes back, I'll see it in your eyes, sis. They're such big, dark eyes. Franklynn had barely aknowledged the other girls presence. Being she was deep into a chapter in her book about cats of acient egyptian wizards and witches. The whole book itself was about the history of cats and their role in magical households. It was quite interesting really. She had found it by chance while looking for a book to help her on a poition's essay. Upon finishing the last bit of the chapter, she closed the book. Having marked her place mentally. She looked over to where Alchemy last had been, hoping she hadn't gotten herself into to much mischief. She was stunned, however, to see another "kitten" laying near her own. This snowy, spotted animal made hers look as if it was still a baby! Even though it was still small, it was larger than Alchemy. "Did you make yourself a new friend, Al?" She asked with a smile. Setting her book down on the edge of the fountain before getting up. She walked slowly towards the two kittens. Not wanting to startle the other. She kneeled down next to Alchemy, only to have her pounce into her lap playfully and rub her head against her hand. With a smile, Frankie obliged by picking her hand up and petting the fluffy female. It was while she did this, that Franklynn began to wonder where the other ''kitten'' had come from. Surely it was not purposely out her by it's own accord. With this thought, she scanned around the courtyard. Until he eyes landed on another girl. She smiled softly at her then nodded at the other animal. "This one yours?" Her words were soft and friendly. She was one of the kinder Slytherins. Frankie didn't take the whole slytherin attitude to heart. Not nearly as much as some of her house-mates did. She grinned softly at a purring Alchemy. "Have you been here long?" |

"Yes, she's mine." Jade said, laughing a little at the fuzz-ball that continued to entertain her. "I haven't had her too long, but I already feel pretty attached to Anastasia." Thinking a little about the second question as Ana came to her and snuggling up to her ankle and shin, she figured out how to answer. "Well, no. I've only been here for a year, but I think I'm going to go up a year by the time the next semester starts." "I haven't seen you around before, are you new?" She asked, scratching Ana underneath the jawbone. The cat purred loudly, surprising Jade a bit. She hadn't quite gotten used to the cuddliness of the creature just yet. Ana acted just like a normal cat, and always would act more like a house-cat than a wild animal, but later on in life some of her instincts may kick in. You'll end up realizing that you're a lot bigger than you thought, won't you? |

Franklynn smiled at the girl and her pet. Scratching her own behind it's silky black ears as she stayed nestled on her lap. She grinned down at her own kitten before looking back up at the other student. "She's gorgeous." Frankie commented softly. The young slytherin glanced over at her book. That was thankfully still resting on the edge of the fountain. She slowly stood up, collecting Alchemy in her arms. Frankie didn't trust the book sitting like that on the edge of the fountain. If it were to fall in, she would be ranted at by Madam Pince. And that was really not on her agenda anytime soon. So she shifted Alchemy to one side as she freed up the other hand to pick up the book. She moved to sit across from the other girl. That way, if others decided to seek solace in the courtyard, they wouldn't disturb them by talking loudly across the area. She set the book in her left hand down at her side, before placing her kitten back in her lap. It's eyes half-lidded and purring idlely. She smiled. "Yes, I am new." She responded, her green eyes flickering with excitement. "I'm here waiting on the new term. This'll be my first year here. It's quite exciteting so far, I must say." She tilted her head to the side. Taking in the other students appearence. "I've never seen you in the Slytherin commons, what house are you in?" |

She realized that she rarely ever wore her own house robe, she always just wore the cloak she bought at Diagon Alley. "Oh! I'm from Ravenclaw." Thinking about how the girl had gone up and gotten the book off of the fountain, she would have done the same thing. It was the constant worry that made Jade keep things close like that, whether it be the same for the other girl or not. "Your kitty is cute, too. What's your name, as well as hers? My name is Jade." She smiled. For once, someone who was interesting was attending her school. She liked the Slytherin girl. A couple of the Slytherins she met weren't as nice, only one other girl was, but the girl had never really spoken to Jade much at all. She stuck her hand out, happy to be making a new friend, after introducing herself, hoping the girl would shake it in return. Anastasia saw a small bug crawling in the blades of grass, lept, and landed with a thud as she began pawing for it. |

Franklynn smiled softly at the girl. Ravenclaw had to be her second choice to Slytherin. She did have the brains to be in the brillant house, but was probably more mischievous than the other Ravenclaws. Which must've been what landed her in Slytherin. But beyond that, she had no preference to what house a new friend was in. Friends were just that, friends. There was a difference between the following and house-mates. "Wow, you must be a good student then." She said softly. She glanced at the book again, just to make sure no harm had come to it. She was in love with books, maybe not to the extent of Madam Pince. But she still was always sure to make sure nothing happened to them on her account. "Oh this is Alchemy. Clever of me huh? And I'm Franklynn." She looked at Jade's hand, moving her own to shake it in a friendly manner. She grinned, watching Alchemy's eyes dart open as she punced off to play with Anastasia and her prey. "But you can call me Frankie if you like." |

((Oh! Btw, how do you do that thing, in your signature, that has the drop-down bar? I think that's cool. =) Lol.)) A big grin spread across her red lips, "Actually, yes. That was pretty clever." She didn't feel that she was that great of a student, but she did love the classes she had attended all year. Care of Magical Creatures and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Her DADA professor was her favorite, he was what made the class so interesting. Jade had supposed that, if it was anyone else teaching, she probably wouldn't have had so much fun. No, she didn't have a crush on Professor Lawlis, she just enjoyed his comedy and intellegence. Being Ravenclaw was probably due to her being so calm and thinking, before acting irrational or panicking. She had thought, before coming to Hogwarts, that she would want the classes in order from Ravenclaw, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, to Gryphindor. She would have put Gryphindor before Hufflepuff, if it weren't for the over-confident attitude of the Gryphindor stereotype. She didn't like over-confidence. It got people into trouble, or worse. Anastasia, at that point, turned around and started playing with Alchemy. Jade loved that name, Alchemy. It suited the cat pretty well. She had never taken the class, but she knew that it had something in common with the Muggle class of Chemistry, and the kitten and her owner had Chemistry. Ana, feeling as if she was the same size as Alchemy, hunched in the grass and pounced playfully at her. Even if she landed on the kitten, it wouldn't hurt her, just maybe knock her down. Ana was a gentle cat, though she should have been much the opposite, and seemed to enjoy the other kitten's company. "All right, I'll call you Frankie, then. I think it's a pretty name. But, no, I'm not that great. Sometimes I have emotional issues and they affect my class-work. So, that's not good. You look really smart, though." |

Frankie smiled, her pale pink lips turning up at the corners. She giggled softly, she was a sucker for little clever things like that. "I actually bought a book on Alchemy when I got the rest of my things. It's quite interesting, sort've an older version of Poitions really." Franklynn couldn't wait for the new term to begin so she could take classes herself. So far, of what she had saw poking around the castle, she really wanted to take DADA. it seemed by far the most interesting. Frankie watched the two kittens play together. It was quite refreshing for Alchemy to have someone to interact with. She let her lips curl into a slight grin before turning back to her new friend. "Thanks, I rather prefer Jade really. I have what is commonly a boys name, but then again uniqueness is key to being more happy." This was her biggest personal theory. And she lived by it. "I'm good at bookwork and I do alright at creative things. I d'unno though, it might change when classes start. I'm pretty good under pressure, but sometimes that changes." She shrugged, it really depened on how bogged down she was. Or how much sleep her mind was running on. All in all, she was pretty clever. "So when do lessons start up again?" |

It was a wonderful thing to see another student happy. A lot of the residents at Hogwarts seemed to be depressed. Teenage drama and relationship issues got the best of the majority of people. But, the fact that someone else was smiling, free to smile and unafraid of it, as she used to have been afraid to talk because of her Russian-Jewish accent, it made her sort of proud. She didn't know how she was proud, but she was. "I think they start in two weeks, or less. I'm not quite sure. The lessons are interesting, though. So, I think you'll like them." Jade thought about what she was going to do until then. "The only thing I have to do, until they start, is read and take care of Ana." The cub's ears flicked at the sound of her name, having finally grown accustomed to being titled all the time, but this was all she did in recognition of it. The kitten was too deep into its world of play to pay much attention to what Jade was doing. The mention of Frankie liking her name better than her own made Jade blush, no one had ever said that before. She thought her name had always sounded old, an old lady's name. It would suit her when she got there, but she didn't feel it would any time before that. After looking down for a moment, she looked back up to Frankie's eye with her own blue ones. "I don't think it's a boy name at all! Frank, maybe. But, Frankie is too cute to be a boy's name." |
